SEA Software Engineering Conference 2013

April 1-5, 2013

The UCAR Software Engineering Assembly is organizing a technical conference to keep software engineers up-to-date and to foster networking and collaboration within UCAR/NCAR and with our peer institutions. The conference is intended as a forum for broad discussion on multiple aspects of software engineering, and includes sessions on diverse topics relevant to software engineering theory and practice. The conference is intended to appeal to software engineers working at UCAR/NCAR and at other institutions developing software focused on scientific disciplines (e.g. NOAA, NIST, NREL, Universities, SWRI, NASA, DOE, other supercomputing centers, IGES, USGS, etc.)

Program

Monday, April 1: Web, User Interfaces. Data technologies and Big Data.
Tuesday, April 2: Parallel and distributed computing. High Performance Computing.
Wednesday, April 3: Engineering methodologies and best practices. Scalable HPC profilers introduction.
Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5: Scalable HPC profilers, hands-on tutorials.

The results of the survey, with the response to some comments have been posted here

View the conference online

NEWThe videos of the conference are posted on the page of each talk (if no video is visible on a page you select, change "https" to "http" in the URL or try another browser)

The SEA conference 2013 will experimentally stream online the talks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The tutorials will not be streamed. The service is provided "as-is", there is no support for it, and online viewers will not be able to ask questions. You might also need to periodically refresh the page with the browser "refresh" button. Content will be streamed only when a speaker is speaking (check the schedule at the links above), otherwise a "200 Stream not found" error will be displayed.

Call for speakers is closed.

We have talks in many of the above subjects. There is particular interest in talks with a focus on science-related topics, for example but not limited to: Big Data, Model Development, High Performance, User Interfaces, Stories of applying new technologies (e.g. smartphones) for scientific computing, etc.
