We appreciate your interest in the SEA’s Improving Scientific Software Conference 2020.
The safety and well-being of our community colleagues is a top priority. UCAR is closely monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. As a result, UCAR has closed its facilities to the public and to non-essential staff until further notice. In fact, everybody in the conference committee is working from home.
The conference committee discussed the results of a survey sent to speakers, which showed 70% of respondents preferred canceling or rescheduling the conference as a first choice and 36% said it was their second choice. Many said they would withdraw from an online-only event and that the in-person networking is the most important aspect of this event.
Based on that, we decided to cancel the ISS 2020 conference.
Rescheduling anytime before the planned date for next year presented several obstacles. For next year’s program, we will give priority to authors whose talks and tutorials were accepted for 2020.
While the conference itself is canceled, we will still publish proceedings for this year. You can see the proceedings here.
Please keep an eye on our website for updated information. We look forward to seeing you all in person when possible!

Edge computing
Communication/computation overlap
Performance, Portability & Productivity
Modern tools for
Data Analysis, Processing and Visualization
Scientific Workflows: Purpose and Product Review.
