The Data Access Service Architecture for LaTiS

Date and Time:

LaTiS is a data model, a data analysis API, and a REST-ful web service for accessing scientific data via a common interface. The LaTiS data model provides a unifying, mathematical foundation for describing datasets that captures the functional relationships between parameters. The Scala implementation of this model provides an API for reading data directly from their native source, the ability to transform datasets and compute with high level data structures, and options for writing data in various formats. This talk will discuss how these capabilities are used to enable a modular web service framework that can easily be configured by a data provider to serve datasets from any one format to another.

Speaker Description:

Doug has been wrangling science data since the early 1990s. He is currently managing the science data system for the SORCE spacecraft and providing data access technologies at CU's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP)
