Updates to Fortran 2008

Dan Nagle recently started working as a user consultant in CISL. With 40 years of experience in Fortran and parallel computing, Dan is now helping our users with high performance computing (HPC), vector and parallel Fortran, porting codes to new platforms, and designing and implementing parallelism.

Dan has been teaching people to program with coarrays since 1998, and he recently completed his Ph.D. in Computational Science with an emphasis in HPC.

Please provide your input here to the International Standards Organization's (ISO) process to extend the Fortran 2008 standard.

Forums:

The J3 meeting to establish the preliminary worklist is Feb 13-17. I will find a forum to discuss the results of that meeting as soon after as I can. The WG5 meeting to set the worklist is in June. After the worklist is set, there is a higher degree of difficulty to make a change. The basis for the February meeting is J3 paper 11-256r2, available from www.j3-fortran.org Go to "Complete J3 Document Archive" and select "year" then "11". Find 11-256r2 from the list to download.

John Reid has posted to WG5's web site a draft of proposed features for the further coarrays requirements.
